Italy Part 2: Blending In

I'm really really really trying hard not to title this post "...As the Romans do," so I'm going with another Italian classic: "Oh, you blend" (Mona Lisa Vito).

Italy Trip Part 1

Earlier this summer, we were fortunate to be able to go to Rome and Venice, thanks to a very kind family member. I had been to Italy before, but of course it is insanely fantastic every time, and it was especially meaningful to be able to go with my husband, who has not had many of what we civilian-types call "vacations."

We of course made sure to visit the major sites. The greatest hits, if you will.

Vienna Gets It

After Spain, I went to Vienna to visit my mom and step dad. I love this city (and seeing my family [and seeing horses]).

Whatever the Weather

In planning our anniversary weekend, we googled "best small towns in Virginia," and picked whichever had the best option in the nice hotel/cheap hotel matrix. The evening we arrived was beautiful.

Visiting Clinton This Summer

Right before school started, Husband and I visited my mom and step dad at the beach in Clinton.

This is the house next door. It's being eaten by nature, which I think everyone is pretty much Ok with.

Getting Engaged at Piney Point

Short story: We went to our friend Dave's beach house for a weekend, and on Sunday morning Devin proposed and obviously I said yes.

Late Night Nostalgia on the Upper West Side

Being back in my neighborhood where I grew up makes me feel the nostalgic the way Homer meant. It's weird and moving and great like visiting an old friend, except you both keep changing and it's hard to keep up as much as you used to. It hurts my heart (and my heart) a little bit.

The Last Lunch.

This is my dear friend David Rakoff. (He didn't always look like this.)
